Paramount Pictures has made it official: they are now working on a live-action version of the hugely popular video game series Call of Duty. Skydance and Microsoft-owned Activision Blizzard are working together on the project. This is the first real step toward bringing the famous shooter to the big screen.

David Ellison, the CEO of Paramount, says that the studio wants to approach the movie with the same “disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence” that made Top Gun: Maverick a hit. Rob Kostich, the president of Activision, agreed with this vision and promised a movie that would “honor what makes the franchise great” while also reaching more people through cinematic storytelling.
